I dont know of a better way to do spindle turning; saves a lot of messing around endlessly moving things. And I made a centre steady which comes in handy all the time, especially if you like hollow forms or long spindles. Im not a professional turner and this lathe has only had my own amateur use. It is in excellent condition, everything works perfectly, and it has been maintained immaculately, not just tarted up for sale.Ive got it bench mounted but the legs are underneath along with the tool basket they are supplied with. Ive added a few extra photos, at the request of a few people. If Im honest, of the 2 banjos, if I had to pick one I think the Record Power is the better of the two.
They are both equally well made and solid in use, but the extra length is a benefit when turning bowls or platters at the limit of the lathes swing (16). The black thread adaptor is something Ive always used to protect the standard M30 threads when Im not using the lathe, it also means if youve got a smaller threaded chuck you can use that on this lathe as well. The Record one was the wrong size. Out of curiosity Ive just asked Axminster about the bed extension and it is currently not available in the UK, for back order or anything else.
