The machine is extremely stable weighing in at around 100kg. With a heavy duty steel frame and cast aluminium planer and thicknesser beds this is very much at the top end of amateur woodworking equipment. However it has been fitted with a 16 Amp socket but could have a normal 3-pin plug replaced if you wanted to do that. No voltage return on/off safety switch operates the planer.
The planing beds are 1200 (long) x 270mm wide and the thicknesser bed measures 530x255mm. The planing width is 260mm with thicknessing height up to 200mm.
The machine has been fitted onto a heavy duty mobile wheel base with footpad pedal to lower the base onto adjustable feet for stable setting up. This is a really handy addition and makes it more flexible for a small worksop and allows it to be moved relatively easily. This model has the chip ejection/extract hood integrated as part of the equipment and this allows connection to 100mm diameter extraction hose. The planing bed is simply lifted up into the vertical position and the hood swings over the blade for thicknessing operation with no upsetting to the beds set up that goes back to the original position when the bed is lowered back down. The heavy gauge aluminium fence allows adjustment 45-90 degrees and lateral setting across the cutter head for varying timber thickness.
The original blade guard is also present and is fully adjustable. The exceptional quality of this machine cannot be overstated and I have tried to take a selection of the most appropriate photographs to show the pristine state of all the parts. The belts, anti-kickback teeth, cogs, chains and pulleys are all in superb order and indicate limited use of the machine and excellent maintenance and upkeep generally. 2no HSS blades fitted are sharp. It has been cleaned and lubricated throughout.
There are a few dents in one of the beds, which are very small/shallow and look like impact from the corner of a metal tool but this has no bearing on the use of the machine. Other than that a few paint chips, scratches and the usual signs of wear that you might expect with an older machine. Quite difficult to get hold of on the second hand market although blades, belts and many parts are still retailed new through Scheppach, this is one of the last machines to be produced in France before manufacturing went across to the far east. I can help with loading subject to social distancing, but please be aware you will need a van or large vehicle to move this due to the size/weight.
The black lever with two arrows below is to disengage the feed rollers if you are in planing mode (saves on unnecessary wear and load). The small knob on the thicknessing bed handle is to lock off once the desired height is achieved. The picture of the specification plate is taken on the motor.
This is fixed to the motor body and shows the specification/technical details. The 16Amp socket is not necessary to connect this machine bearing in mind the start-up load is only 10 Amps.
It has been fitted due to being served from a dedicated 16 Amp circuit in a workshop. However please be aware that you should check and be confident/familiar in the peculiarities of your electrical system including the sensitivity of individual circuit breakers etc, which vary and depend on your home/workshop circuits and the electrical system in the property. Replacement blades come in resharpenable HSS version and I believe that a disposable option is also available.
