Goliath Blacksmiths Power Hammer, with a Free No:8 fly press if you want it. Just bolt it down, plug it in, and get to work! Ive converted it to a 3h. Ive been running it comfortably off a standard domestic 13amp power supply. It comes with two sets of H13 air hardening tool steel dies that are virtually as new. There is a curved set, and a flat set. Both sets are interchangeable with each other. Ive been using it on wooden sleepers that were bolted down. I do recommend you bolt it to a firm concrete base though. I find old mechanical hammers much more intuitive to use than modern pneumatic ones.
They replicate the natural rhythm of hand forging, with the faster it runs the harder it hits, and, with practice it can deliver the lightest of slow blows. No forge is complete without a Goliath power hammer. If you are serious about forging, a hammer is as essential as the forge itself.
They greatly increase your repertoire, your productivity; they look great, and are equally great fun to use. If you love your machinery you'll love a mechanical hammer! The No:8 fly press is also very useful, and is a piece of equipment often overlooked. The size of the fly press generally refers to its force, so this one has around 8 tons of grunt. Remember; forge equipment is an investment not an expense.
A power hammer will pay for itself many times over, and when you are finished with it you'll be able to sell it on for what you paid for it, plus inflation.
